Another interesting article in the Wall Street Journal about Amazon pushing into healthcare. A couple observations on what this means to National Accounts Executives, in no particular order:
The national media continues to highlight Amazon’s push into healthcare, but not much new is being learned.
Amazon is doing something different — not just trying to de-throne legacy distribution. Chris Holt says as much: “Our goal is to be something new. We’ve been actively building out new capabilities and features.”
Northwell admits they are concerned about supply disruptions from Amazon and the marketplace it is creating.
Premier states its prices are better than Amazon.
Here is some more food for thought:
Customers are willing to pay for convenience. I am not sure Amazon needs to be the cheapest if they are a more convenient supplier.
The buyer of tomorrow wants a different experience than what today’s supply chain offers.
