The project to add a new patient wing that includes a pediatric intensive care unit, a parking structure and surgical facilities to the campus of Providence Tarzana Medical Center, at 18321 Clark St., was approved by the City Council’s Planning and Land Use Management Committee.
The goal is to “keep people in the Valley for care, as opposed to people thinking they have to leave the Valley for those services,” said Dale Surowitz, CEO of the hospital.
The price tag of the hospital project initially was about $624 million in 2016, but “we figured out ways to reduce costs,” Surowitz said.
