Tenet completes sale of six hospitals in California

Tenet Healthcare Corporation announced that it has completed the sale of six hospitals and related operations in California consistent with previously disclosed terms.


Tenet completed the sale of its four Orange County and Los Angeles County hospitals and related operations to UCI Health – consistent with the approval of the University of California Board of Regents. The completed transaction includes Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, Lakewood Regional Medical Center, Los Alamitos Medical Center, Placentia-Linda Hospital, and related operations.


Tenet completed the sale of its two San Luis Obispo hospitals and related operations to Adventist Health. The completed transaction includes Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, Twin Cities Community Hospital, and related operations.

Cleveland Clinic creates new role to lead emerging markets



Cleveland Clinic announced that Tommaso Falcone, M.D., will serve as the organization’s first Executive Vice President and President of International and Emerging Markets.


In this new role, Dr. Falcone will be responsible for leading and executing Cleveland Clinic’s strategic initiatives in international markets, focusing on both established and emerging markets. This will include enterprise-wide Global Patient Services, International Operations, Cleveland Clinic Canada and Cleveland Clinic Nevada. He will also work closely with leaders in both Cleveland Clinic London and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Vizient announces agreement with Loma Linda University Health

Kansas-based universities partner to support rural healthcare


Through the K-State 105 initiative, Kansas State University and The University of Kansas Health System announced today that the organizations are working together to explore ways to support health care in rural Kansas communities. The two organizations made the announcement during a joint news conference.


The partnership brings together the land-grant mission and statewide presence of K-State through K-State Research and Extension with the expertise and experience of the state's only academic health system. The two organizations are identifying health care areas for initial project focus. Some of these areas could include:

  • Strategies to keep care local.
  • Caregiver support for patients with dementia.
  • Increasing access to digital and telehealth resources.
  • Programming focused on behavioral health needs in rural communities.
  • Addressing OB-GYN/high-risk pregnancy provider shortages.
  • Grant writing and facilitation resources.

Premier announces strategic supply chain partnership with Beebe Healthcare



Premier recently announced that it has been selected by Beebe Healthcare as its supply chain operations strategic partner.


This partnership will allow Beebe to focus on delivering exceptional care in their community while Premier’s supply chain management and consulting team will support the people, processes and technologies needed to drive efficiency and total cost management. Three Beebe supply chain employees will transition to Premier’s Nexera, where they will continue to improve supply chain operations, support a clinically integrated supply chain and help facilitate cost savings for Beebe.


The decision to partner with experienced organizations to help manage end-to-end supply chain operations is an increasing trend among healthcare executives looking to solve critical business issues and position their organizations for long-term success. According to a recent survey of healthcare executives, 60 percent report being moderately or highly likely to utilize outsourced partners to support supply chain performance improvement.

B. Braun, Orlando Health to collaborate on healthcare innovation



B. Braun Medical announced a collaboration agreement with Orlando Health to jointly develop innovative solutions to increase access to care for patients and clinicians. With a focus on the disruption across the pharmacy and infusion therapy landscape, the collaboration centers on early clinician feedback to identify needs and develop solutions to address those needs.


The innovation teams that will form under the collaboration will consist of interdisciplinary colleagues from B. Braun and Orlando Health. By combining B. Braun’s dedicated, cross-functional incubator team with over 200 years of commercial, technology and operational proficiency with Orlando Health’s tremendous clinical and healthcare expertise, the teams can rapidly identify and develop the most promising solutions.


B. Braun and Orlando Health plan to publish the various findings that come out of this collaborative, with the goal of pursuing commercialization of the technologies that have the strongest potential for adoption by other healthcare systems.
